Restore Your Smile at Louscher Family Dentistry

From regular wear and tear to severely damaged or missing teeth, an imperfect smile can make everyday interactions feel excruciating. Louscher Family Dentistry offers a wide range of solutions that focus on repairing and replacing damaged or missing teeth.

Restorative dentistry involves a variety of treatments aimed at restoring both the function and aesthetics of your smile. Whether you’ve suffered from tooth decay, trauma, or gum disease, we can help you regain a healthy and confident smile.

Restoring the strength and beauty of your teeth

Dental Crowns

Think of a dental crown as a cover for your tooth. It's custom-made to protect a damaged or weakened tooth, preventing future damage and improving its appearance. We use crowns to restore chipped, broken, or deeply decayed teeth. Crowns are fabricated from porcelain or metal and aim to resemble natural-looking teeth in shape and—with porcelain—in color.

Filling the gaps for a complete smile

Bridges

A dental bridge addresses the functional and aesthetic issues associated with having a missing tooth. If left untreated, a missing tooth will cause the surrounding teeth in your mouth to shift and fill in the space. This change in your bite can then contribute to larger dental issues, including difficulty chewing, smile misalignment, gum disease, jaw and tooth pain, and changes in face shape.

Comfortable solutions for missing teeth

Dentures

We understand that no one wants to lose their natural teeth, and we always do everything possible to retain them. If, however, bone loss around the tooth roots is advanced enough to cause tooth mobility, we may recommend dentures. Dentures can enhance your overall dental function and aesthetics so you can chew and smile confidently and painlessly.

Your dentist will evaluate your entire mouth and determine which teeth can remain and which need to be removed and replaced. Depending on what they find, they may recommend either full or partial dentures.

A partial denture offers a natural-looking solution for missing teeth that cannot be restored with a bridge. This removable appliance is made of lightweight metal and synthetic materials that mimic the appearance of your natural gum tissue and teeth. Partial dentures fill gaps in your smile and prevent your remaining teeth from shifting so that you can enjoy a restored smile without sacrificing your natural bone structure.

Full dentures are also removable dental appliances; however, they replace an entire upper or lower set (arch) of teeth and gums. These are best if you have lost or your dentist needs to extract an entire arch of teeth due to injury, gum disease, or decay.

Implant-Supported Dentures

While traditional dentures may shift over time and require a special adhesive to keep them fitting properly, implants provide a secure fit from the get-go. Implants reduce the challenges that tend to come with traditional dentures, such as sore or swollen gums and chewing or speaking difficulty. In comparison to traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures distribute your biting pressure, much like your natural teeth. This stimulates the supporting structures and prevents the jawbone and soft tissues from shrinking away.

A permanent solution that looks, feels, and functions like natural teeth

Dental Implants

Dental implants are restorations that replace missing teeth as artificial roots. First, titanium posts are surgically placed into the jawbone and left to integrate with the bone tissue. Once the implants are fully healed, we then attach individual crowns, bridges, or dentures (depending on the situation) to restore the missing teeth.

Dental implants offer a more permanent solution compared to traditional bridges (which anchor to natural teeth) for several reasons. They do not stress the surrounding teeth for support, and if the final restoration wears out, we can often simply replace it over the existing implant or implants. Additionally, implants prevent the bone loss associated with missing teeth, eliminate eating discomfort, and never need to be removed.
